How to connect electricity to a house and a plot: where to go, what you need and how much it costs

Connecting electricity to a house or plot can take a long time - at least a month and a half, maximum - up to two years. Although you must legally obtain permission within 30 days from the date of application. The very connection of a site or a house to the power grid usually takes up to six months, although it can be connected in a week and a half, or it can take several years. It all depends on the situation, and partly on your persistence.

How to get permission to connect electricity

The procedure is the same, whether you want to connect a plot of land without a building or a permanent (private house) or temporary residence (cottage). First, find the address of the energy sales company in your area. It is easier to do this on the Internet by writing “the address of the energy sales campaign” in the search box and adding the name of the district. There are situations when the site is located on the border of the service areas of two energy sales organizations. Then the application is submitted to the one whose post is closer.

It is possible to bring light to a private house or to a plot if technical conditions are available. You can find out this in the energy supply organization in your area.

It is possible to bring light to a private house or to a plot if technical conditions are available. You can find out this in the energy supply organization in your area.

A completed application and a package of documents are sent to the found address. In each district, the list of documents may differ slightly, but mainly you will need:

  • Application for connection (one of the forms and a sample of filling are shown in the photo below).
  • A photocopy of the passport, the details of which are indicated in the application.
  • A copy of the certificate of ownership.
  • A photocopy of the TIN.
  • A list of all energy-consuming devices that will be connected to the network, indicating their capacity.
  • Load calculation.
  • Plan of the site and the house on a scale, on which to indicate the location of the nearest power supply poles. If there are pipelines on or near the site (gas, water supply, sewerage, etc.), they must be on the plan. On the plan of the house, indicate the places where electrical installations will be installed.

You can submit documents by mail or in person. If you decide to bring the application in person, go to the reception to the secretary, submit the completed application for connection in duplicate with all the documents, on the second (it will remain for you) ask to put the date of acceptance of the documents. With this method of filing, you will be answered exactly within the 30 days prescribed by law.

You can send an application by mail. In this case, you need to wait about 45 days, taking into account the time for mail delivery. If there is no answer, send the request again or go and submit in person. This does not happen often, but there are also such situations: the letter was lost somewhere, sorted, etc.

The photo shows an example of a completed application. This is just one sample, the forms change at least once or twice a year, so you will need to find the currently valid form and fill it out.

What will be in response

In a letter from Energosbyt, you will receive two copies of the agreement on connection to the power grid, signed by the representatives of the campaign, and the “Technical conditions for connection” (TU).

You need to carefully read what was sent to you, if everything suits you, sign the contract and send one copy back.

Read it carefully before signing the contract

Read it carefully before signing the contract

The contract stipulates the term for supplying electricity to the site. The standard cost is 6 months. This is the maximum period allotted by law for the performance of all work. In fact, the connection period strongly depends on how far the pole is from the site. For urban conditions, "near" means at a distance of no more than 300 meters, for rural areas - less than 500 meters.

If the distance is within these limits, you can be connected faster - in a couple of months. If it is far away, the term can be much longer than six months. Although after this period, you can make a claim. Regardless of when you connect electricity to the site, start construction when it is convenient for you.

Sometimes the agreement is vague, without a date. For example, this: "Connection of site No. ... will be made within 6 months, but subject to modernization or repair (construction) of a step-down transformer substation." Having signed an agreement containing approximately the same or a similar text, you can wait for years: until the organization starts construction or modernization of the substation. Only after that your site can be connected to the mains within 6 months.

How much does it cost to conduct electricity

According to the Resolution No. 129 adopted in 2011, if the power consumption is up to 15 kW, and the distance from the site to the nearest pole is 300 and 500 meters (depending on the type of settlement), the cost of connecting electricity will be 550 rubles.

If the load or distance is greater, the connection is at commercial rates, and these are completely different amounts. For example, in Moscow and adjacent regions, you need to pay from 10 thousand rubles for connecting 1 kW of power. That is, if you need 16 kW, then this is 160-200 tr. and more. According to commercial tariffs, connection fees are also considered if the distance to the pole in rural areas exceeds 500 meters, and in urban areas - 300 meters.

How much it costs to conduct electricity depends on the distance to the nearest pole and the required power

How much it costs to conduct electricity depends on the distance to the nearest pole and the required power

Therefore, it is advisable to find out where the nearest connected power pole is located before buying a plot. It depends on how much money is required to connect electricity to the house or plot. Agree, 550 rubles and hundreds of thousands - the difference is more than tangible.

Sometimes, even if you need 15 kW and the pole is within the specified limits, you are told that some work must be paid separately. No one has the right to demand payment from you. Even if an increase in equipment capacity or a network upgrade is required. If your requests fit into the conditions stipulated above, the cost of connecting electricity to a land plot or house will be 550 rubles.

What then

After the permission and technical conditions are received, it is necessary to develop a project for the electrification of the site. Basically, you can draw up a wiring plan for the house yourself, but if the house is large, with utility and technical rooms, with electricity supply to the installation area of a pumping station or a pump for water supply, it is better to order a project from a specialized organization. And the best option is in the energy sales organization where you applied for connection. There will be much less problems with acceptance.

Example of a home electrification project

Example of a home electrification project

If you draw up the project yourself, it will need to be coordinated with the power supply organization. If the requirements are met, it will be approved for you, if there are violations, they will indicate what needs to be changed. After making the changes, submit the project for signature again. Only having in hand a ready signed project, you can start implementing it.

Good day! We bought a plot, before that there was one, then a neighbor divided it into 2 parts. Column 15 kW 1 for two with a neighbor, of course this power is not enough for two. So the chairperson suggested installing her own pillar for 115,000 (not officially) or 225,000 (officially). Tell me, are the amounts generally adequate? Are the actions lawful?

Tell me what to do. Village Ivanisovo, Pereslavl region. The house on our street was once connected to the power grid of Vityaz LLC, which was connected through its own transformer to Yarenergo - but this “knight” is dead, the transformer is still working, but our house has been disconnected from E / E. We wrote to Yar energo to connect to them and were refused, they say the house was once connected. What now?! And we have about 10 such houses.

There is a month left until spring, so it's time to make inquiries. To submit an application, you must contact the network organization that serves the power grids in the area where your site is located.
You can find out the cost only "locally". In the meantime, you need to decide which cable is advisable to start - two-core (220 V) or three-core (380 V). Naturally, in the second case it will be more expensive, because it will be necessary to install a 3-phase meter and an RCD, lead a four-core SIP to the site.

In all such cases, it is necessary to bypass intermediaries. I read about a case in Obninsk, where, instead of 550 rubles, a local krokhobor asked for 300 thousand! And as you find out the prices for connecting to communications in the Moscow region, you are generally amazed.
A few words about bypassing intermediaries from personal experience - it concerns gas, but does not change the essence of the matter. In 2014 he decided to supply gas to the bathhouse. I asked around my acquaintances and found out that a local idle entrepreneur named Yura takes about 25 rubles for such work. I turned to the gas section and they announced to me the amount within 10 thousand rubles! To be honest, I was quite surprised by this difference. In fact, I paid them 8,300 rubles - this included work, 23 meters of pipe, two cranes and one stand.

    • Evgeniy
      02/28/2018 at 11:38 - Reply

Based on my modest experience, I will assume that everything depends on the local administration. At one time, it was built according to the "Rural House" program - it was financed both from the state and from the regional budget. The poles were installed by local power grids. Connection documents were drawn up at their own expense.
As for the physical connection, then how lucky is anyone. Nobody paid for the work, but someone paid for the material (self-supporting insulated wire and suspensions), and some did not. Those. local electricians said that now, for example, there is no self-supporting insulated wire - buy and we will connect. Personally, I paid only for suspensions, someone for suspensions and self-supporting insulated wires, and someone was lucky and he got the material for free.
What do they say to you in the administration on the territory of which the land plot is located?

Good time. The situation is such an overhead line is laid from the post along the brick wall of the neighbor's fence. It needs to be redone according to the rules. But the problem is that the line itself is 70 meters long and there is no possibility to install the poles. since the width of the entrance is 1 meter, neither a drill machine nor a crane will pass. How can you run a cable at a lower cost?

As for the pole, since there is no way to use heavy equipment, then the option remains to do everything manually. Dig a hole, pull up a post and install using guy ropes. The problem is that it will take about 10 people to install the pole.

Good afternoon, in the city of Volosovo, for connecting to electricity, the company coordinating my single-line diagram project asked for 65,000 rubles for the connection, this money includes work on the installation of a Pillar on my site, assembly and installation of a metering cabinet on a pole on my site and laying a wire from my section to the highway (this is about 100 meters) Taking into account all materials ..
If I understand correctly, then everything that is done on my site I must either do it myself or ask them to do it by paying for the services.
    1. But do I have to pay for the wire and work on its installation from my site to the power line?
    2. Along the route of the wires to my site, there are two pillars with one problem, and the second, which is closer to my site but stands on the common territory, neighbors claim that they put it at their own expense and prohibit throwing a wire through it. At the same time, alas, I have no other option to connect my site to electricity.

A summer cottage with a house (owned) on all sides borders on plots (owned), has a single driveway. According to our application to the power grid company (in August), the connection was made in October for the connection of electricity. And in February, the power grid company installed 2 pillars in the middle of the dumped road (a lot of snow is not visible), as if for us, thus blocking the access to the site. Upon our request to move to the side of the pillars, they refuse, arguing that they were given a corridor. It turns out wherever the pillars are stuck - they are right everywhere. They did not agree with us. And if there is a fire, will fire trucks fly through the air? Where can we go? Are there any violations of the law?

      08/22/2018 at 12:04 - Reply

I didn't understand the phrase “a lot of snow - you can't see”, you can't see what?
On the installation of supports - it is regulated by the PUE (rules for the installation of electrical installations). Excerpt from clause 2.4.53:

Intermediate supports must be designed for the following load combinations:

      • ● the simultaneous effect of a transverse wind load on wires, free or covered with ice, and on the structure of the support, as well as loads from the tension of the branch wires to the inputs, free from ice or partially covered with ice (according to 2.4.12);
      • ● on the load from the tension of the branch wires to the inputs, covered with ice, while taking into account the deflection of the support under the load;
      • ● for a conventional design load equal to 1.5 kN, applied to the top of the support and directed along the axis of the overhead line.

I suspect that in your case, only the option of laying the cable in the ground may be suitable. You can put pressure on electricians through firefighters (Ministry of Emergency Situations), since you mentioned the impossibility of transport access in case of an emergency.

Logically, the one who puts the pole has the authority to lead the cable from it. This is exactly what happens in our village. The regional center has its own organization, for the rest of the district's settlements - another. Everyone works only in assigned territories and, as far as I know, has no right to connect anything on the territory of another service organization.

Good evening. Only the local service can answer you, and in relation to your specific case. Call them and ask.

    Good day!

My site is on the other side of the bay from other sites. The neighboring pillar is about 350 meters in a straight line (across the bay), overland - about 700 meters.

Tell me how 500 meters are determined for connecting for 550 rubles - by land or in a straight line?

    Thank you.

Depends on local power supply. Most likely, they will count on land.

A fire broke out at the site in a summer cottage association. The meter also burned out. What needs to be done to connect the electricity to start building a new home. There is a bathhouse on the site

In the village, electricity was supplied to the main house, a guest house was built at the end of the plot, the electrician says if a wire is pulled to it, there will be losses. Can an additional pole be installed and connected from it?

It is not entirely clear what size the site is. Really a few hectares? If so, there will certainly be losses. If the guest house is within 10-15 meters, why not use SIP 2x16? With this wire cross-section, the losses will be insignificant.
About the pole, you can only be told in local power grids.

Good evening! Please tell me the answer to my question. There is a plot of land in the village with my grandmother (my mother's aunt), which she inherited from her uncle (in 2018, it was registered as property). On this site there is a house built in 1949, which was donated by the same uncle to my grandmother in 1992 (my mother's mother), there is a donation contract for the house and a certificate from the archive in the donation contract indicates the land (29 arable land and 15 for the house and garden). My mother's mother died in 2017, so her sister inherited the land, my mother wants to enter the house. She needs a certificate from the BTI technical plan what is the cost? She wants to join us so that we can lead the light (there was a meter and it was sealed) to the plot (maybe there is an option without entering the house as an inheritance?). And it is necessary to chew the earth in order to conduct the light? Aunt will write down the earth to mom. - what and the cost of work for carrying out the light? The pillar is less than 50 meters from the house. Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, an application for light is accepted only if there are documents on the property, i.e. The owner of the house and plot must submit They require both a certificate for the house and a certificate for the land.
As for the BTI, it is unlikely that there is a single tariff throughout the country - you need to call and find out. When you collect all the documents that are at hand, including documents from the BTI, you can look at the MFC - they should know about the whole procedure there. The friend gave everything he needed to the MFC, and then only took the certificate for the house and land (after buying the house).

Good day! Our house is divided into two halves. The house has 2 owners. There is a counter in one half. We would like to conduct the light into our half as it should be (our own meter, contract). They say you need a written permission from the second owner. How is it regulated?

I designed the light on the site, then they built a house (we use the light but haven’t paid yet) now do we need to issue it to the house? Or is it enough that there is clearance on the site.? The seals are

Hello, we bought a plot, built a house, we want to install electricity, everyone went through the contract, everything is fine. The lighting department workers in our area advised us to buy a 2013 meter that had never been used from a store. They bought it well, according to the documents they like everything, but suddenly, at the end, when they should already conduct the light, Someone from the elders did not like the meter, and he decided not to conduct the light, so we have been sitting without light for a couple of months.

    What to do? To sue?

good day! What to do and how to be !!! There are 2 adjacent summer cottages at 58 and 60 Vishneva St., SNT "Kolyaginskiye Hills" of the Republic of Khakassia. Plot number 60 - 8 acres, (extreme from the main street), elongated and ending on another Abrikosovaya street, is a pine forest, earlier in Soviet times it was planted along the road and played the role of a protective strip. pines planted in 2 rows. I have concluded an agreement for connection to power grids at 60 Vishnevaya Street. At present, IDGC of Siberia requires me to perform technological connections under the agreement, but from the side of Abrikosovaya Street, where the boron ends, threatening that in case of failure, a penalty will be charged ... I wrote to them in writing that in the subject of the contract, the legal address is 60 Vishnevaya Street, not Abrikosovaya Street, to which IDGC of Siberia, referring to legislative acts, claims that they are guided not by the address, but by the cadastral number of the site. The construction of the dacha was planned on an empty adjacent site on 58 Vishneva Street, cutting down 20-year-old pines from the side of Abrikosovaya, in my opinion, is criminal, and the site is narrow, it's just a forest belt. Electricity on Vishneva Street is planned for next year. How to be? Some people advise to connect and then refuse, but this will cost 17 thousand rubles. Remarkably, please help me figure it out !!!

Tell me please! We have a new town - they promised to build a store over time and everything that is needed in the town - now our senior in the house is tearing and rushing to connect the stall to our 5-storey house temporarily, but the stall is close somewhere 10-15 m from other houses - there and the pillars stand from the UK-and the pillars on the road are also nearby, but these houses that are close they refuse to connect to them to the stall, and our house is further than them. The eldest of our house arranges for everyone to sign up for a connection. Is this correct and what is better for us or should we not connect? Explain to me and to several other residents of my house? This is the city of Tula and Molodezhny

Hello. Please tell me. I bought a plot in SONT, but there is no chairman there, just some owners. Nearby, 100 meters away, there is a 6 kV power line. In the mountains of the network I was told to do a project, buy a ktpn, build and install poles according to the project, and then they will connect…. Is it so? Or do they have to do all this?

KTPN is a complete outdoor transformer substation !? Your requirements are not feeble. How much will the connection cost?

We are concluding our third connection agreement. The two previous companies did not fulfill their obligations. The third company also signed an agreement with us, issued technical specifications, but is in no hurry to connect. You need to put 12 supports. It turned out that the supports to which our line is connected are not registered and the company may not receive money from the state for the construction of our line. We were unambiguously offered to build at our own expense. In this situation, who will be the owner of the line and who will maintain it?
